Therapy is a place to feel at home with yourself.
I’ve always been my happiest living near mountains. I was born in Toronto, Canada, but grew up Tucson, Arizona. I moved to Vancouver 15 years ago to be near the ocean and mountains and never left. My love of nature and outdoor activities brought me to Squamish, where I currently reside with my partner and dog, Penny.
My own healing journey began at a young age when I received counselling support for my own struggles with anxiety, perfectionism, and navigating difficult family dynamics. Counselling was a warm and validating space to process my emotions, understand my fears, and learn to have compassion towards myself.
About Christie (she/her)
I take every chance I can get to be in nature, whether it’s hiking, trail running, skiing, or snowboarding. I find nature and the outdoors to be incredibly healing.
I’m also an avid traveller and have a life bucket list to travel to as many countries as I can. I love to explore new places, meet new people, and learn about different cultures.
Meaningful relationships are everything to me and it is a huge part of why I love being a therapist. I am deeply honoured to witness each client’s healing journey and am constantly amazed by the inherent wisdom within each individual.
Background and Education
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#18912) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I completed my masters degree in Clinical Counselling through City University.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in the nonprofit space for over 7 years. My background is in program management, community advocacy, and educational leadership programming. I have supported diverse youth and adult populations in a variety of settings including schools, community agencies, public health, and private practice.
My counselling internship was through Vancouver Coastal Health in substance use services. I supported adults with co-ocurring substance use and mental health challenges from a trauma-informed and harm reduction lens. A highlight was co-facilitating the all genders recovery group and leading a weekly meditation and mindfulness group to support clients in their recovery.
